A car you hardly use

Most people who sell to us from Central London say the same thing: the Tube, buses and the Elizabeth line get them everywhere, and the car sits in a residents' bay for weeks at a time. Meanwhile the permit, the insurance and the servicing keep costing money.

Selling privately in zone 1 is awkward. You can't easily show the car to strangers on a busy street, test drives are slow, and buyers from outside London often don't want to drive in. We take that out of it. You give us the reg and some details, we agree a price, and we come to wherever the car is parked.

Parking, permits and access

Almost every street in these boroughs is in a controlled parking zone. We collect from residents' bays all the time. Tell us the bay's restrictions when we call so we can time the collection inside the permitted hours.

Plenty of cars in the centre live underground, in mansion block garages, office car parks or residents' car parks such as those on the Barbican estate. These are fine. Let us know the height limit, how the barrier or fob works, and whether a concierge or building manager needs our details in advance.

Mews streets in Kensington, Chelsea and Marylebone can be tight. If the car is in a narrow mews or a garage with no room to turn, say so and we'll plan the collection around it.

Meeting near your work

If you work in the City or the West End, it can be easier to meet at your office car park during the day. We'll need the address, a contact name and any loading bay or security rules for the building. The paperwork takes about half an hour, then the car is gone and you go back to work.

ULEZ and the Congestion Charge

The ULEZ started in Central London in April 2019, so drivers here have lived with it longer than anyone. Older petrol cars and most diesels from before late 2015 pay the daily charge every time they move. If yours is one of them, the market for it is mostly outside London, and that's a common reason people here sell. We buy compliant and non-compliant cars.

Much of this area is also inside the Congestion Charge zone. We know the boundary and plan our routes around it, so it doesn't change how a collection works for you.

What we're usually asked to value

Low-mileage premium cars that have mostly sat outside the house. Small city cars bought before the owner realised they didn't need one. Older diesels that now cost a daily ULEZ charge. Company cars, cars from people moving abroad, and cars that haven't been started in months and need a jump. If it has a flat battery, tell us and we'll bring what's needed.

Questions

Central London FAQs

Can you collect from an underground car park?

Yes. Tell us the height limit and how access works, and whether the building needs our details before we arrive.

My car is in a residents' bay. Is that a problem?

No. We collect from residents' bays across Westminster, Camden, Islington, Kensington and Chelsea and the City. We'll time it to fit the bay's rules.

Can we meet at my office?

Yes. Give us the office car park address and any security or loading bay rules, and we'll come during the day.

The car hasn't been driven for months. Will you still buy it?

Yes. A flat battery or a car that won't start is fine. Just mention it so we bring the right equipment.
