Who we are

This policy explains how Sell Any Car handles your personal data. We are the data controller for the information described here.

What we collect

When you use our valuation form, contact us or sell us a vehicle, we may collect:

• Vehicle details: registration, mileage, make, model, year, fuel type, gearbox, colour, condition, MOT status and whether there's outstanding finance.
• Contact details: your name, phone number, email address and postcode.
• Sale records, if you sell to us: proof of identity and address, bank details for payment, V5C details, finance settlement information and the signed sale paperwork.
• Messages: records of calls, emails and WhatsApp messages with you.
• Website usage: anonymous statistics such as pages visited, device type and rough location, collected by Vercel Web Analytics. It doesn't use cookies or follow you around other sites.

Why we use it

We only use your data to value and buy your vehicle and to run the business. Our lawful bases under UK GDPR are:

• Steps you ask us to take before a contract (Article 6(1)(b)): looking up your vehicle, preparing an offer and contacting you about it.
• Performing our contract with you (Article 6(1)(b)): arranging collection and paying you.
• Legal obligations (Article 6(1)(c)): keeping sale and accounting records, carrying out identity and anti-money-laundering checks, and notifying the DVLA.
• Legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)): preventing fraud and spam, improving the website, and following up on a valuation you asked for.

Marketing

We won't send you marketing unless you've agreed to it separately. We never sell your personal data.

Who we share it with

We share data only with providers who help us run the service, under contracts that require them to protect it.

• Resend sends your confirmation email and the lead notification to our team.
• Our vehicle data provider looks up your car's details from the registration. Only the registration is shared.
• Vercel hosts this website and provides the anonymous analytics.
• Our email, phone and WhatsApp providers carry our messages with you.
• Your finance company, if there's finance on the vehicle that needs to be settled.
• The DVLA, HMRC, the police or other authorities, where the law requires it.

Transfers outside the UK

Some providers, such as Resend and Vercel, may process data outside the UK, including in the United States. Where that happens we rely on the UK International Data Transfer Addendum, the UK-US data bridge or other safeguards approved under UK data protection law.

How long we keep it

• Valuation requests that don't lead to a sale: 12 months from your last contact with us, then deleted.
• Completed sales: 6 years after the end of the financial year of the sale, for tax and legal records.
• Website analytics: anonymous and grouped, with no personal profile kept.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can:

• see the personal data we hold about you
• ask us to correct it
• ask us to delete it when we no longer need it
• object to, or ask us to limit, how we use it
• get a copy in a portable format
• withdraw consent at any time where we rely on consent

How to use your rights or complain

Email info@sellanycarlondon.com and we'll reply within one month. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We'd appreciate the chance to put it right first.
